It's a real pleasure to be with you and with many authorities in this event organized by us, together with the Kingdom of Tonga and the European Youth Forum.

Distinguished co organizers, honorable Chief of Staff delegates, youths, please allow me to express my gratitude to all partners who contributed today to the organization of this event today and European Youth Reform and Kingdom of Tonga.
Special thanks to the representatives of the younger generations who are taking part in this conversation today sharing their experiences, ideas, and perspectives.
The topic we're addressing today is particularly important.
With less than four years away from the 2030 agenda deadline, the international community is summoned not only to accelerate the implementation of SDGs, but also to strengthen the processes through which we shape public policies.
In this regard, the Summit of the future represents an important milestone by adopting the Pact for the future and the Declaration on future generations member states have undertaken a shared goal, strengthen the ability of institutions to look at the long term and involve in a significant manner younger generations in decision making processes.
The Declaration on future generations aims to integrate an inter generational perspective into public policy making decisions in a structured youth participation.
For this reason, we believe that younger generations should be recognized as interlocutors and stakeholders in designing public policies, and it is within this framework that Italy today presents its first youth voluntary review.
It is an initiative which we have developed as an integral part of the voluntary national review process and as a concrete contribution to strengthening youth participation in the implementation of the 2030 agenda.
The youth voluntary review is not an isolated exercise or an activity limited to review.
Rather, it represents a milestone on a broader journey developed together with institutions, with the civil society, the education sector, local authorities, and youth organizations.
I'm particularly happy to see some of those actors here today sharing in this dialogue, sharing their experiences, ideas, and perspectives develop throughout this shared journey.
This journey has leveraged experiences and contributions at the national level, at the local level, international level, reasserting the value of a multi stake or and multi level approach to implementing the 2030 agenda.
Special attention has been devoted to the role played by youth and policy making workshops and activities, consultation activities and tools designed to enhance the capacity of institutions to assess the impact of public decisions on younger generations.
At the same time, we have promoted initiatives aimed at schools and local communities with the conviction that participation must be inclusive, accessible, and capable of engaging young people from all backgrounds.
What strikes us as particularly important is that this process does not end today.
The experiences and the contributions we've collected.
The participatory spaces that we've been created will continue to inform the work in Italy's national sustainable development strategy, furthering its participatory and inter generational dimensions.
One of the main challenges ahead of us is considering these processes, making the contribution of younger generations an increasingly integrated component of public decision making.
In this perspective, the work carried out by the United Nations within the youth 2030 strategy is an important point of reference for us all.
We will have the chance to explore these issues during today's dialogue.
No country alone can answer all the challenges we face and it is precisely for that reason that today, with the United Nations international partners and representatives of younger generations, what we are doing here today is so valuable.
The experiences we will listen to today may differ, but they will converge on the same shared knowledge that youth participation is not simply an add on to sustainable development policies, but an essential condition for making them more effective, equitable, and better equipped to look at the long term our responsibility towards future generation, is not exhausted simply by imagining tomorrow.
It mainly relies on creating today spaces, opportunities, and tools that enable young people to contribute practically to shape this future.
This is a powerful message that Italy's younger generations have given us today.
It is with this spirit that Italy presents its first youth voluntary review.

Not as an ending point, but as a starting point of a journey which we wish to make increasingly structured, inclusive, and capable of having a tangible impact on public policy making.
We hope that today's dialogue might strengthen an international community that is ever more committed to listening to, engaging, empowering the contribution of younger generations because investing in youth participation means investing in the quality of the decisions we make today and in the future that we will be able to build together.
