We the Peoples, Shaping the Future of the UN (HLPF Special Event)
We the Peoples: Shaping the Future of the UN is the flagship civil society gathering to reflect on the Organization's next 80 years and its long-term vision.
Description
The opening segment will build on the UN's recent journey, covering the 2017/2018 reforms of the development system, peace & security architecture and management, UN75, Our Common Agenda, and the Pact for the Future and UN80 Initiative, highlighting how these milestones have sought to strengthen multilateralism in the face of complex global challenges. As the UN confronts a world of geopolitical tension, growing inequalities, and rapid technological change, speakers representing diverse constituencies and regions will share their perspectives on the organization's evolving role and the institution they envision for the decades ahead. The Q&A segment will encourage participants to join the conversation, culminating in the launch of structured collaboration mechanisms with civil society and a global survey inviting people everywhere to help shape the UN of the future.
